The book has to be greater than 300 pages and can be anywhere from the age for columbus up until the civil war. I ask this because I have to write a book review for a intro to U.S I (It fills a gen ed requirement) class and I really have no idea what to read. I want something that is straightforward and interesting for a 19 year old nursing student.

A fun book we used to read in college years ago is the "Elizabethan World Picture". I bet you could get it used on Amazon for about nothing. It outlines how people thought – how they saw their world – back in Shakespeare’s time. around 1600. It’s just a short paper back, but it’s loaded with interesting odds and ends about that time.

Start by reading book reviews online. There are TONS of them, from newspapers to blogs to magazines. Just look at how they construct the reviews, and then follow that. If you want a headstart, write down basic info – who the characters are, what the story is about, a few big "moments" or "set pieces" in the book, some dialogue or description you liked, and impressions/opinions you had about the book – and then once you’ve studied how other reviewers write theirs, you’ll be able to write yours.
